BARBERTON, Ohio (WOIO) - A 38-year-old man pleaded not guilty to weapons and drug charges in Barberton Municipal Court Thursday, after he was arrested Wednesday with a loaded firearm and improvised explosive devices.
The judge set Christopher Wilson’s bond at $500,000 and ordered him to return to court on Aug. 28.
Barberton Police Patrolman Marty Eberhart said officers on patrol came into contact with Wilson around 6:30 p.m. near the 30 block of North Van Buren Ave.
Officers were able to safely secure the weapon and isolated the explosives until the Summit County Bomb Squad responded.
North Van Buren Avenue was closed due to traffic until 8:35 p.m.
