WANTED: Cleveland man with history of domestic violence and attacking police officers
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) -This week’s Cuyahoga’s Most Wanted feature a Cleveland man with a history of domestic violence charges and attacking police officers when they come to arrest him.
According to Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County, Derek Birkenheuer pleaded guilty in January to domestic violence and assault on a peace officer.
Court records show Birkenheuer attacked his victim, knocked them to the ground and then knelt on their stomach.
When police arrived he hit one officer in the face and another in the head.
This is very similar to a 2023 incident where he again pleaded guilty to domestic violence and when police arrested him in that case he hit one in the eye and another in the jaw.
He has violated his probation in his most recent case and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Birkenheuer is 5’8’ and about 215 pounds and was last known to be staying in the 3800 block of Woburn Avenue in Cleveland.
Anyone with information on Birkenheuer’s whereabouts should contact Crime Stoppers at 216-252-7463.
Tips that lead to an arrest and a conviction could be eligible for up to a $5,000 reward.
Calls are not recorded, and tipsters can remain anonymous.
