Guardians fans say even though they were eliminated from the playoffs, they’ve had a remarkable season
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Guardians fans packed the stands at Progressive Field on Thursday, hoping Cleveland would move on to the divisional series. But it just wasn’t meant to be.
The Detroit Tigers won the Wild Card Series and will move on after defeating the Guardians 6 to 3.
Fans left the ballpark disappointed, one woman from Westlake told 19 News, “They’ve given us our ups and downs, but we’ve been with them all along. It’s a sad, sad loss, but we’ll take the good with the bad.”
Abe from Houston is a Guardians fan who said, “You know it’s tough. It’s good to see the city unite. But, there’s always next year.”
But even with the loss the Guardians have had a remarkable season. You could call them the comeback kids, often coming alive and scoring winning runs towards the end of their games.
Remember, the Guardians are the “American League Central Division Champions,” winning that title for the second season in a row after completing what’s been called the greatest comeback in MLB history.
This is also the Guardian’s second consecutive trip to the playoffs.
