Erick Sharp, 19, was indicted on two counts of aggravated riot.

A 17-year-old boy is also facing charges in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court.

The juvenile is charged with seven counts of felonious assault, one count of discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, one count of aggravated riot, one count of having weapons under disability, one count of tampering with evidence, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, and one count of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.

“What should have been a day of excitement and celebration turned into a scene of fear and chaos,” said Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley. “Firing multiple rounds into a crowd of hundreds shows a complete disregard for human life. It’s a miracle no one was killed.”

The shooting happened around 6:20 pm. on Sept. 7 in the 1000 block of W. 10th St.

Cleveland police said there was an issue with overcrowding at Play Bar and Grill, both inside and outside the establishment.

The Fire Marshall was notified and responded along with other Cleveland firefighters.

When they arrived, police said the crowd inside Play Bar and Grill was pushed outside and altercations started, with gunshots ringing out.
