Elyria woman whose home was mistakenly raided, found not guilty
ELYRIA, Ohio (WOIO) - An Elyria woman whose home was mistakenly raided by police in January 2024, was found not guilty of fraud and grand theft.
The jury trial for Courtney Price began earlier this week in front of Lorain County Court of Common Pleas Judge Chris Cook and the jury reached a verdict Thursday.
On Jan. 10, 2024, multiple officers with the Elyria Police Department’s Special Response Team broke through the front door of a home in the 300 block of Parmley Ave.
Price said her and her sick infant son Waylon May were both inside and May was injured.
A GoFundMe was set up for Price after the raid.
The charges stemmed from accusations Price used the money from the GoFundMe account on personal items instead of her son’s medical care.
