Two accused of forcing man to strip naked, shooting him, knocking out his teeth, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC/Gray News) - Two people have been arrested after Memphis Police said they allegedly forced a man to strip naked, shot him in the leg, and punched his teeth out.

Two people charged

Bailey Jobin and Joseph Polk were both charged with especially aggravated robbery.

Polk was also charged with employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, being a felon in possession of a firearm, theft of property $2,500-$10,000 (motor vehicle), evading arrest, and not having a valid driver’s license.

What happened

These charges stemmed from an incident on Sept. 23 when a man reported a robbery to the Memphis Police Department.

The victim said that he was picked up by a man he knew as “Jay Pointer,” later identified as Joseph Polk, and taken to a home near Pope and Omar Robinson streets.

A man referred to as “One-legged Jay” arrived at the address and demanded money from the victim over a prior vehicle purchase.

The victim was made to strip naked, and then everyone got out of the vehicle. According to police records, the victim told the man, “You’re going to have to kill me here,” and at that point, Polk pulled out a handgun and shot the victim through the right thigh.

After that, MPD records state that two unknown men started punching the victim in the head and knocked out several of his teeth.

Bond information had not yet been posted for either man at the time of this story’s publication.
