Guardians win AL Central for third straight season

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Guardians locked up the American League Central race Saturday night following an 11-5 win over the Kansas City Royals.

The Chicago White Sox fell to the Colorado Rockies, securing the Guardians place as division champions with one game remaining in the regular season.

Cleveland clinched a place in the playoffs earlier in the week but will now bypass the American League Wild Card series and go directly to the Division Series.

The ALDS is a five-game series scheduled to begin Saturday, October 3, in Cleveland. The Guardians will play the winner of a three-game series between the White Sox and either the Texas Rangers or Houston Astros.
