CLEVELAND, Ohio (TheOBR.com) - Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans!

THE DAILY BLOVIATION

Talking quarterback, especially on a platform like YouTube, is a dicey proposition right about now. Our analysts say what they see - a struggling Deshaun Watson who is mysteriously turning it on in the fourth quarter - and the reaction is all over the place. Some folks point to the team’s 4-2 record and say we’re slandering Watson to criticize him. Some others concoct elaborate conspiracy theories about how we must hate Shedeur Sanders because we mention him in an insufficiently glowing fashion. Or because we didn’t talk about him. Either way is a losing proposition.

One thing I’m pretty sure of is that the Cleveland Browns will be looking for a new quarterback next year.

As always, the college football season is throwing all those preseason predictions about who the top quarterback prospects will be thoroughly asunder. Just like it always does.

With the Buckeyes off this week, my plan is to spend the day looking at some of the top college prospects, mostly those not sharing a name with some famous uncles.

I have not entirely forgiven Arch Manning for the fourth quarter of Week 2. I don’t hold him responsible for the team’s loss - I blame the incredible heat sapping the energy out of the team by the end of the game. But Arch took advantage of the northerners’ inability to handle the heat.

That was the day Texas scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth to beat my No. 1 Buckeyes, and the young man with the most famous last name in football looked every bit the No. 1 overall pick people had been calling him since high school. As a Browns fan, I admit to doing a little math in my head about what it would take to trade up for the #1 pick.

Six weeks later, nobody’s doing that math anymore.

Since that time, it’s been a mess. Texas has lost two straight games to unranked teams. Front Office Sports reports that Manning has six turnovers and a 59.3 QBR through six games, and three of those turnovers came in the last two weeks. Our own prospect tracker noted his lost fumble sealed the Florida game. Steve Sarkisian said, “I need to see a better version of Arch Manning,” and ESPN reported backup KJ Lacey Jr. is getting more first-team reps. Arch’s response: “I’m going to die on the hill of ‘I’m letting it rip.’”

The draft gurus have been brutal. Mel Kiper told him to go back to college, and Kiper’s big board now has him sixth among quarterbacks and 24th overall. Bleacher Report says he isn’t currently worthy of first-round consideration and that his game looks more like grandfather Archie’s than either of his Super Bowl-winning uncles. Fortunately for Arch, I don’t take Bleacher Report very seriously.

Still, Jordan Reid’s QB rankings project him in the early second round and quote an AFC assistant GM: “What’s giving so many people this blind faith that there’s just this monstrous ceiling with him?” Dan Orlovsky went on First Take and said Texas lets him “play thrower,” not quarterback, and that he should transfer.

I’ll stick up for him a little. The Athletic’s Dane Brugler told FOS, “Texas has more of an offensive problem than a quarterback problem,” and the Longhorns rank 104th in yards per play. Quinn Ewers came out of the same program and fell to the seventh round. Maybe the problem in Austin wears a headset.

But the Browns don’t draft Sarkisian.

If you can avoid it, you also don’t draft question marks, and that’s what Arch is.

This and that, otherwise...

THE FINAL INJURY REPORT: Dillon Gabriel, Mike Hall Jr., Teven Jenkins and Kalia Davis are out for Sunday. Grant Delpit, Dylan Sampson, Denzel Ward and Quincy Williams are questionable and Mason Graham and Quinshon Judkins will play. Ward is the worry. Scott Petrak says he left with his right pinky heavily bandaged, and Monken doesn’t know how it happened: “Knowing Denzel, I would expect him to play.” If he can’t, Mekhi Blackmon likely starts across from Tyson Campbell. Quincy says he’s good to go, and Delpit is in the final stages of the concussion protocol. On the Tennessee side, Calvin Ridley (hip) missed Thursday and Friday and is questionable, as is Tyjae Spears, now listed with a knee. Tony Pollard practiced fully and has no designation.

QUICKLY: The Browns worked out eight players Thursday, including guard Michael Jordan, a former Buckeye. No, not that one. Jack Duffin is guessing Teven Jenkins or Noah Igbinoghene goes to make room for Sampson in his Watercooler thread. And the Hoolihan thread is full of Friday-night memories, autograph signings at grocery stores and a basketball game at Ravenna High School. Go read it.

Have a good one! GO BROWNS!

Rescuers Ensure Orphaned Baby Walrus Gets a Second Chance

A wildlife research intern, Violet Anniskett, and USGS scientist Tony Fischbach found a five-month-old Pacific walrus calf alone on a remote northern Alaska beach after his herd left during heavy surf. He was hiding between the remains of two adult walruses while scavenging birds circled. Locals cared for him for several days before he could be flown to the Alaska SeaLife Center, and now the 220-pound calf is at SeaWorld Orlando, getting up to six bottle feedings a day before he meets the resident walruses, Garfield, Kaboodle and Uki, who was rescued herself.
