CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Skilled tradesmen are making six-figure salaries without a college degree.

"With my first year with ArcelorMittal I was more than able to double my salary that I was earning while in retail management. And this year I'm on track to possibly triple, well into six figures," said ArcelorMittal steelworker Shannon Beldon.

Vocational programs are gaining popularity. In fact, believe it or not, there are plenty of high-paying jobs that will hire you as long as you have a high-school diploma.

Just ask William Gary, executive VP of workforce at Cuyahoga Community College.

"When I can talk to students who have not traditionally had wages beyond $10 and $12 per hour, and they come through our training programs…and they can achieve $20-22 an hour and ultimately within 5-6 years make $90,000, that's significant," said Gary.

One of the highest paying jobs that doesn't require any college background is right in our own backyard, ArcelorMittal.
