WICKLIFFE, Ohio (WOIO) - Police are investigating the validity of a threat of a potential shooting occurring this week at Wickliffe Middle School and said officers will be deployed to all schools as a precaution.

According to police, the threat was made on the social media platform Snapchat, but they did not say when it was received or who sent it.

The middle school was supposedly targeted for either Monday or Wednesday of this week.

“We do not believe the threat is credible at this time,” police officials stated on the department’s Facebook page. “However, we will have a police presence at all the schools.”

School officials sent a recorded message out to all parents of students Sunday evening and the matter remains under investigation.
