Roads reopen as Lubrizol plant incident in Lake County resolved

LAKE COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - All roads in Lake County reopened Saturday evening after an incident at the Lubrizol plant in Painesville had been resolved.

Lake County shared the reopening of the roads, and Lubrizol said the incident has been resolved.

Roads were closed after a hot-tank truck delivery to the Painesville plant had temperatures above handling guidelines.

The Lake County Emergency Management Agency said the delivery occurred at 5:30 p.m. at 155 Freedom Road.

The city of Mentor said the closures were a precaution.

The Lake County sheriff shared news of closures affecting State Route 2, State Route 44 and State Route 84.

Streets affected included Richmond Street, Heisley Road, Newell Street, West Jackson Street and Blackbrook.

The chemical provider said water was applied to lower the temperature of the delivery.

Lubrizol said the delivery posed no risk to the surrounding community.

The Lake County sheriff said there were no harmful chemicals released and there was no threat to the surrounding area.

The Lake County Emergency Management Agency is working with local agencies to monitor the incident.

Fire and EMS crews from Painesville, Lake County, Wickliffe, Concord, Grand River and Willoughby were on scene to provide mutual aid.

The chemical provider said their plant is operating as normal.

Lake County EMA said if any conditions change, they will continue to provide updates.was
