1 dead, 1 charged after shots fired at Lorain County motorcyclists, deputies say

ELYRIA, Ohio (WOIO) - The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said one man is dead and one man is charged after reports Tuesday evening of shots fired at motorcyclists.

The LCSO said officers quickly arrested the suspect, Isaiah Makuch, 24, of Elyria near his relative’s home after receiving a search warrant.

He is facing murder and gun charges, according to deputies, and is due back in court Thursday for arraignment.

A news release said the incident began with multiple agencies receiving similar reports of a person shooting at motorcyclists.

• The first call came at 5:19 p.m. near North Leavitt and Cooper Foster Park roads in Amherst
• The second call came at 6:02 p.m. near North Leavitt Road and State Route 2 in Amherst
• The third call came at 6:18 p.m. near Lake Avenue and Emerson Court in Elyria Township

Deputies said they found Trey Anthony Sukey, 30, of Lorain shot multiple times at the Elyria Township scene.

He died from his injuries at University Hospitals Elyria.

In the earlier incidents, no one was shot, but deputies said a there is evidence that at least one motorcycle was hit.

Deputies arrested Makuch around 6:55 p.m. They located the suspect vehicle and recovered a handgun believed to be used in the shootings, according to the release.

LSCO said Makuch is being held at the Lorain County Jail with no bond.

UH Elyria was briefly placed on a lockdown that has since been lifted.

Elyria Police Department helped LSCO throughout the investigation, which remains ongoing.
