CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident at a babysitter’s home in Huron.

Tracy Allen Jones, 2 1/2 years old, has second and third degree burns.

He spent Halloween in the burn unit at Metro Health in Cleveland.

“I have not gotten a complete, truthful story about what happened to my son,” said Tonya Gkonos. “Doctors, nurses and us as parents, we can see there was some type of hot liquid spilled from the top of head to his groin.”

Tracy attended Azori & Friends Daycare on Rye Beach Road. Tracy and his sister have been there for two months.

Gkonos got the disturbing call on October 27.

“I got a facetime from the babysitter and my son was unrecognizable, face swollen. You couldn’t really tell it was him,” said Gkonos.

Darrionna Jones runs the babysitting business out of her home. The business is not licensed by the state.

Johnson claims she wasn’t at the home at the time. She was working at her second job around the corner.

Johnson said her boyfriend was caring for Tracy. Johnson told Gkonos a spider bit her son.

“The story the babysitters are giving us is he was outside playing in a bush and he came from a bush this way which is not true,” said Gkonos.

Johnson said she doesn’t know if he was burned or not at her home and unsure of what caused his injuries.

According to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Johnson’s boyfriend waited an hour to report the incident to police.

Johnson claims she told him to calm down and called police when she arrived.

Johnson posted a flyer of her business to social media. 19 News reached out to the Department of Job & Services. It claims it has no record of her business.

19 News asked Johnson for clarification, she said it is not daycare. Johnson confirmed it is a babysitting business.

Gkonos said she is disappointed and wants the truth.

“I had all the intuition as mother they were safe, the way they reacted when they seen her,” said Gkonos. “This could have been an accident and accidents happen, but when you are lying and not being truthful and a two year old hasn’t open his eyes in five days. That’s when I come resentful.”

Tracy’s father is asking the community for emotional support.

“Everyone just keep to in your prayers, just wish him the best. He is a strong little boy,” said Jacob Jones.

Tracy had surgery Tuesday morning. He is expected to go home in few weeks.

Johnson tells 19 News her child is not allowed in the home due to the investigation.
