ELYRIA, Ohio (WOIO) - A box truck crashed into a home at the intersection of 3rd Street and West River Road in Elyria, Wednesday morning, according to police.

The truck was driving northbound on West River Road when it collided with a Chevy Equinox going eastbound on 3rd Street, according to the preliminary investigation.

EPD said, after the initial impact, the truck kept going and hit a home on the corner.

Elyria Fire said the two people inside at the time were not injured.

The driver and passenger of the truck had minor injuries and the driver of the car was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, according to police.

“I was surprised to see it being a truck but cars, no,” neighbor D’Andra Graves said. “Living here for five, six years I’ve seen a couple of crashes right in front of my house.”

The people involved in the crash have not been identified.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Graves said the one-way streets at the intersection came be difficult for drivers to navigate.

He hopes something can be done so crashes can be prevented.

“Updated signs or something for drivers especially a little further down there I know a lot of drivers get confused,” Graves said.
