Avon Lake elementary school closes due to police activity nearby

AVON LAKE, Ohio (WOIO) - Redwood Elementary School is closed Monday, according to a social media post by Avon Lake City Schools.

According to the post, the elementary school is closed on Monday due to an ongoing situation in a nearby residential neighborhood.

Avon Lake Police said officers went to a home near the school to serve a domestic violence-related warrant, which was resolved without incident.

A school official said the early morning police situation off-campus caused road closures that impacted traffic to the school.

The road the school is on was closed, according to the official.

School officials then made the decision to close for the day due to the road closures.
