Man arrested by US Marshals for allegedly shooting, lighting victim on fire

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - U.S. Marshals arrested a man Friday morning wanted by Cleveland Police for allegedly shooting and setting his victim on fire, according to a release.

According to the release, 37-year-old Michael H. Hurley was wanted for aggravated murder in connection to a May 8 homicide.

Marshals said that Cleveland officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1700 block of East 88th Place on May 8 in connection to a dead body.

The release said that Cleveland Fire was on the scene battling the fire when they located a dead body inside the home.

Following an autopsy, the body was found to have a gunshot wound to the head, Marshals said.

Hurley was identified as being involved and a warrant was issued, according to the release.

Marshals located Hurley Friday morning at a residence in the 2700 block of Lancashire Rd., Cleveland Heights where he was transported to Cleveland Police.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated in a release, “Another example of the outstanding efforts put forth by the detectives of the Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit. Their work led to the identification of this violent suspect, which ultimately resulted in a safe arrest by our task force members.”
