CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Sunshine and a quiet pattern has settled into Northeast Ohio.

Temperatures this evening will steadily fall into the mid to upper 40s tonight with a few clouds drifting in by sunrise.

Partly cloud to mostly sunny skies take over Thursday as we track a chilly afternoon with highs only anticipated to reach the upper 50s.

Thursday night could open the door to the first frost inland for many folks as temperatures fall into the upper 30s to low 40s. Protect any sensitive plants before you go to bed Thursday night as overnight lows will warm above any frost thresholds through the weekend and into next week.

Daytime highs Friday will rebound into the lower 70s under abundant sunshine.

We will see bigger changes by the weekend with more clouds and increasing opportunities for rain through early next week.

A strong cold front will arrive Sunday which will help to focus better rain chances and kick up stronger winds. Gusts could reach up to 35 mph. We will feel the impact of the cooler air on the other side of the cold front Monday.

Scattered showers at times and daytime highs into the low to mid 50s will greet us through the first half of next week.

Tracking the Tropics: Hurricane Milton continues to trek to the northeast this afternoon and is on track to make landfall this evening somewhere between Anna Maria Island and Sarasota. The storm has been battling strong wind shear and dry air from the west which has really helped to weaken this storm to a certain degree. However, it still remains a very powerful storm. Catastrophic storm surge and incredibly strong winds will batter the west coast of Florida this evening as we await landfall sometime between 9 PM and 11 PM tonight.
