Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson’s surgery on ruptured Achilles ‘successful’

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Browns confirmed that QB Deshaun Watson’s surgery on his ruptured right Achilles tendon on Oct. 25 was a success.

The Browns shared that foot and ankle specialist Dr. Bob Anderson performed the surgery in Charlotte, N.C.

Watson is expected to make a full recovery, according to the Browns.

The QB’s last snap of the 2024 season ended with a ruptured Achilles on Oct. 20.

The MRI taken the morning of Oct. 21 showed Watson suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon, the Browns stated.

Watson’s surgery puts him out of the rest of the 2024 season, according to the Browns.

Watson was carted off the field on Sunday’s Battle of Ohio, where the Cincinnati Bengals bested the Browns in Cleveland 21-14.

He suffered the injury on a noncontact play in the second quarter where he dropped back to pass and buckled his right leg.

What also shocked Clevelanders was that some Browns fans allegedly cheered as Watson was carted off the field in tears.

But that wasn’t the only time Browns fans had a shocking reaction to Watson...

He was booed as he took the field in his own team’s city.

The conventional greeting to the team‘s QB1 and the season-ending injury weren’t the only times Watson made headlines last week.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed Deshaun Watson is under review by the league following new claims of sexual assault and battery, AP reported.

Watson has denied wrongdoing since his arrival to Cleveland, and AP said he resolved the civil lawsuit against him.
