16-year-old charged after ’disturbing incident’ in Canton South High School bathroom
STARK COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A “disturbing incident” inside a bathroom at Canton South High School is under investigation by Stark County Sheriff deputies.
Canton Local Schools Superintendent Brett Yeagley said the incident took place on Nov. 25 and the cell phone video has been shared on social media.
The video shows one boy surrounded by a group of other boys who are telling him to remove articles of clothing. The boys then also grab at his shirt.
The altercation turns physical and then the video ends.
19 News does not have permission to publish the video at this time.
The Stark County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a 16-year-old is charged with theft and assault in connection to the incident.
“Our administration started investigating immediately after being notified, and is continuing to review all evidence from the incident. The district will be issuing school discipline consistent with our school board policies,” said Yeagley.
Yeagley added they are fully cooperating with the sheriff’s department investigation, which remains ongoing.
