Contractor, resident injured in shooting at Akron home, police say

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Two people are injured after a shooting incident involving a contractor and resident in Akron, according to police.

On Tuesday, around 3:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of Hillwood Drive for reports of a shooting, according to a report from Akron Police.

Officers said that two contractors arrived at the residence to board it up.

As the contractors began the work, a man who was living in the house came out the side door with a handgun, police said.

The man shot one of the contractors in the back, according to the report.

Akron Police said the second contractor then produced a handgun and fired back at the resident, striking him in the leg.

Officers rendered aid to the injured contractor and his injuries were non-life threatening.

Police had to get the resident out of the home to obtain medical treatment.
