CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) -,

Many remember that day, and they say they won’t let his work be in vain or his legacy die.

Rev. Dr. E.T. Caviness, Senior Pastor of The Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church.

“That was a day, as you say, was a day of infamy. As I’ve written, it was a terrible blow to human rights, civil rights and all the efforts that we’re trying to make this a beloved community. That was a day of total desperation for those of us who were concerned about the welfare not of ourselves, but this country. We are at that propitious and dangerous moment Harry where we could go either right or left. Autocracies are born on the silence of people who will not speak up for the truth. It’s time for us to speak truth to power and make sure the dream of Dr. King will not go in vain and one that is not lost.”

Today, on the 57th anniversary of his assassination, the Warrensville High School Marching Band and those who pledge never to forget Dr. King took the same route he took when he visited the historic Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church on East 105th in 1965.
