Akron Police investigate fatal shooting of 32-year-old man

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A 32-year-old man died after being shot multiple times in Akron Wednesday evening.

According to Akron Police, officers responded to the 90 block of Kent Court for a report of a burglary at around 7:16 p.m.

Police said the caller reported that an unknown man was passed out inside the home.

Officers found the 32-year-old man, later identified as Andrew J. Cassell, had multiple gunshot wounds.

Cassell was pronounced dead at the scene and the cause of death is gunshot wounds to the head and chest, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner.

Akron Police officers recovered a handgun and multiple shell casings from the scene, according to a release.

Detectives also responded to the scene to investigate and collect evidence.
