South Euclid Police investigate ‘calculated, targeted’ murder of 18-year-old

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio (WOIO) - An 18-year-old died Thursday after being shot multiple times in what South Euclid Police Chief Joseph Mays is calling a “calculated, targeted” murder.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified him as Jeremiah Hawkins, of South Euclid.

Chief Mays said Hawkins was shot around 8:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of Verona Rd.

Police said they were told by multiple witnesses a red/maroon Nissan Murano stopped on the street near the victim, a male got out of the vehicle and opened fired on the victim.

The shooter then fled in the same vehicle.

Hawkins was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Agents with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCi) were requested by South Euclid Police at the crime scene.
