Cleveland Heights mayor addresses grand jury decision not to indict officers accused of fatally shooting teen
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) - Cleveland Heights Mayor Kahlil Seren will hold a press conference Monday to address Cuyahoga County’s Grand Jury decision not to indict three officers accused of fatally shooting 18-year-old Christian Tyson Thomas.

The Cleveland Heights teenager was shot and killed by police after a domestic dispute on August 30.
Seren released the following statement Friday:
In a press conference, Police Chief Christopher Britton said police were dispatched to to the 1300 block of Yellowstone Road around 10 p.m.
Chief Britton said witnesses on scene reported Thomas was inside the home in an argument with his father.
The witnesses said Thomas was armed, according to Chief Britton.
Chief Britton said Thomas was then seen standing in the doorway of the home with the gun in his hand.
Officers then heard a loud bang and a gunshot, according to Chief Britton.
Thomas then came out of the home and ran into the Cleveland Heights Police (CHPD) officers at the side of the house.
“Three CHPD officers discharged their weapons, injuring Christian,” said Chief Britton.
Thomas died from his injuries at the scene, according to Chief Britton.
CHPD officers recovered a handgun and a shell casing at the scene.
Chief Britton said in the bodycam footage he watched, he did not see a gun in Thomas’s hand. He also did not see Thomas point a gun at officers on the footage.
The Ohio BCI investigated this incident.
