Dump truck hits service tech working on disabled vehicle, runs from scene in Tuscarawas County

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - A service technician was flown to the hospital after a hit and run involving a dump truck.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), troopers were called to the scene on U.S. Route 250 in Goshen Township just after 12:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The release said a vehicle was disabled on the side of the road and the service technician was parked behind the vehicle.

The driver of the disabled vehicle and the service tech were working on the vehicle’s front left tire.

A dump truck driving south on U.S. 250 then drifted into the shoulder and hit the service tech. The release said the truck then drove from the scene of the crash.

Troopers found the driver and the truck a few hours later at a local business, according to the release.

The 24-year-old service tech was flown to this hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the disabled truck was treated on the scene.

The crash is still under investigation and the release did not say if charges were to follow.
