Green Creek Township, Ohio (WOIO) - A 78-year-old Fremont has to be feeling lucky tonight after the front landing gear of his biplane collapsed while he was landing at the Sandusky County Regional Airport.

The crash occurred at 5:36 pm.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Karl J. Honsperger was wearing his seatbelt harness and eye goggles at the time of the crash and was not injured.

No fuel or hazardous material was spilled from the plane, according to OSHP.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Traffic Safety Board assisted with the investigation.

Impaired flying is not a factor in the investigation, and the incident remains under investigation.
