TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A man was killed Saturday morning when his car was struck by a train in Toledo, according to TPD.

The crash happened on the 4000 block of North Detroit Avenue around 3:00 a.m. Saturday. Detectives say Alandre Moore, 36, from Toledo, ignored roadblocks in the area and attempted to cross the tracks as they were closed for an operating train.

TPD says Moore’s car was hit by the train and dragged around 50 feet before catching fire. TFRD crews extinguished the fire and declared the Moore dead on scene.

The tracks where this happened are owned by Norfolk Southern. The crossing is not marked with flashing lights. TPD says road flares were active at the time of the crash. In addition, train personnel were carrying lanterns to indicate that the road was closed.

An official cause remains under investigation.
