Man arrested in connection with deadly double shooting on I-71

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Division of Police arrested a man in connection with the deadly double shooting back in December.

On Dec. 20, shots rang out at around 1:40 a.m. in the area of I-71N and the I-490 split.

When officers arrived, they found a car crashed into a wall and a man and a woman who had been shot.

The woman, identified as 35-year-old Emerald Vanderhorst, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man, identified as 31-year-old Jordan King, was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

According to Cleveland EMS, a woman in her 30s refused to go to the hospital.

On Monday, officers arrested 30-year-old Nishawn Wood in connection with the double shooting.

Detectives used technology and investigative resources, including the Division’s Real Time Crime Center, to identify and locate the Wood.

He was taken into custody without incident.
