City of Akron lifts precautionary boil order for parts of Portage Lakes after water main break

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - The City of Akron has lifted the precautionary boil water advisory for portions of Portage Lakes as of Sunday morning after a water main break on Friday morning.

According to a release from the city, a water main break on Cormany Road at Robinson Avenue caused reduced water pressure, resulting in several low-pressure and no-water complaints for nearly 325 Akron water customers located in the Portage Lakes area.

The break was quickly isolated, and pressure began returning to normal at around noon on Friday.

The repairs were complete by Saturday at noon, and restoration of normal water service and water quality testing followed.

The water testing from the past 18 hours confirmed that the drinking water is safe.

The city said there is no indication that any contamination was present during the event, and water customers are no longer required to boil their water.
