Akron man sentenced 20 to 25 years in prison for kidnapping and rape
AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Summit County Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich announced Tuesday the sentencing of an Akron man for kidnapping and rape.
24-year-old Cornelius Rogers was sentenced to 20 to 25 years in prison for kidnapping and raping a woman who worked at the Springfield Red Roof Inn in 2024.

Rogers was also sentenced for charges related to a separate 2024 incident.
According to the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office, Rogers has also been designated as a Tier III sex offender, which requires him to register every 90 days with the local sheriff for the rest of his life when released from prison.
In December 2024, at the Springfield Red Roof Inn, Rogers forced his way into a room that a housekeeper was working in, and physically assaulted and raped her.
Camera footage from a Walmart security camera across the street captured the attack.
In January, he plead guilty to one count of rape and one count of kidnapping, both felonies.
He also plead guilty to one count of theft and one count of criminal trespassing for an unrelated case, the prosecutor’s office shared.
