East Cleveland police cruiser collides with car driven by man wanted for deportation

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - An East Cleveland police cruiser hit a car belonging to a man with a deportation warrant Wednesday while responding to a crash call.

At 1 p.m., East Cleveland police were rushing to a crash scene when their cruiser struck the right side of a car at the intersection of Euclid and Superior avenues.

The driver was identified as the man wanted on a federal deportation warrant.

No serious injuries were reported.

Prior to the crash, the man wanted for deportation had an ankle monitoring device that was recently removed.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol took the driver into custody and transported him to the Cuyahoga County Jail, where police said deportation proceedings are pending.

Detective-Sergeant Todd Carroscia said the Ohio State Highway Patrol will investigate the crash.
