DeWine attends Sherwin-Williams headquarters ribbon cutting

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Gov. Mike DeWine attended the opening of Sherwin-Williams’ new global headquarters in downtown Cleveland Monday afternoon.

According to the governor’s office, the company was founded in Cleveland in 1866, and this year marks the company’s 160th anniversary.

“Sherwin-Williams has called Northeast Ohio home for 160 years, and today is a celebration of their longtime commitment to Ohio,” said Governor DeWine in a release. “The new, state-of-the-art headquarters will continue to attract talent to Ohio, encourage our best and brightest students to stay in Ohio after graduation, and drive future development in Cleveland.”

JobsOhio committed $37.5 million for the new one-million-square-foot campus, the governor’s office said, which includes a two-story welcome center pavilion, a 36-story office tower, and an attached multi-level parking garage.

The new office tower will also house more than 3,000 employees.

Sherwin Williams also completed the Global Research and Development Center in Brecksville, Ohio as part of the company’s Building Our Future project.

Sherwin-Williams employs more than 6,500 Ohioans, the governor’s office said.
