Woman fatally shot at Euclid business; employee charged with murder

EUCLID, Ohio (WOIO) - A 24-year-old employee has been charged with murder after Euclid police said he shot and killed a woman at a business in the 22400 block of Shore Center Drive just before 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Euclid police said a 29-year-old woman walked into a business at the strip mall Monday night and got into an altercation with the employee.

Police said the employee grabbed a gun and shot her. The woman died inside the store, police said.

Euclid police did not say what led up to the shooting and did not say which store inside the strip mall the shooting happened in.

At an RTA bus stop at the end of the parking lot, Alayah Wright, who said she lives nearby, said she was shocked when she heard about the shooting.

“I was just pretty shocked, because there’s not really shootings out here,” Wright said.

Wright said she is thinking twice about coming outside after dark.

“I’m not coming outside anymore at night,” Wright said. “You just never know what happens, there’s a lot that goes on.”

Wright also questioned whether the altercation justified what happened.

“It’s just an altercation, it wasn’t a physical fight. So there’s no need to even pull out a weapon,” she said.

Police said the employee accused of killing the woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder. Euclid police did not release the names of the victim or the suspect.
