Seniors demand answers over conditions at Parma Heights Senior Village
PARMA, Ohio (WOIO) - Seniors at Parma Heights Senior Village say they’ve had enough of what they call a lack of management—and they’re demanding answers from a New York-based company with a troubled track record.
Residents said problems range from trash pileups and unkempt grass to dog waste. Some also report bed bugs.
“The sign out there says luxury apartments, and they are nice. But they have to be maintained,” said resident Angella Brown.
Brown says she gave management a deadline of Aug. 8 to address a list of issues residents say they’ve been dealing with largely on their own.
“We’ve gone through all probably four managers, and we’ve had, at one point, we had no maintenance and no housekeeper and the building was just filthy,” Brown said.
According to Brown, residents began logging complaints and documenting when they delivered them to the on-site manager because she says getting answers from corporate has been difficult.
“I had to do it that way to make sure they got it because the corporate office wouldn’t even tell me where the district manager was,” she said.
19 News reached out to the owner group, One Clover Management, for comment and have not heard back.
The New York-based group reached a $7 million settlement in 2022 tied to accessibility issues, including inadequate handicap parking at several properties, including Parma.
“The parking is very limited. There’s even a space out there for potential residents and we’re not supposed to park there but if there’s no handicap space available, I park there,” Brown said.
Brown hopes an Aug. 8 meeting encourages more neighbors to push for changes—from local management all the way up to corporate.
When asked what she hopes comes out of the meeting, Brown said, “I hope that people are still on board with pushing back to the local management all the way up to the corporate.”
