Cleveland Police arrest 3 men, including a father and son, after a shooting left multiple injured

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Cleveland Police arrested three men, including a father and son, after a shooting on West 45th Street last week.

According to a release from Cleveland Police, at around 8 p.m. on July 25, officers responded to the 1900 block of West 45th Street for a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they spoke with a 24-year-old man who was one of the victims.

He told police that he was detailing a car for a 28-year-old customer, who was also a victim.

Police said that while the car was being detailed, an unknown man came up to the victim from a nearby home and aggressively demanded that he leave.

The interaction escalated into a verbal argument, according to police; then the unknown man left, but returned shortly after with another man.

During the second confrontation, the second man, later identified as Venancio Camargo Jr., displayed a gun.

Police said as the 24-year-old victim began backing away, Camargo Jr. pointed the firearm at the victim and allegedly fired multiple rounds.

The gunfire struck two additional victims: a 37-year-old female inside a nearby residence and a 42-year-old male who was standing on the porch of a neighboring home.

At least three cars were also damaged by gunfire, police said.

According to the release, investigators reviewed surveillance footage, interviewed witnesses and victims and collected evidence from the scene with assistance from the Cleveland Division of Police Crime Scene Unit.

Investigators identified Camargo Jr. as a potential suspect and found him at a nearby residence.

As officers approached, Camargo Jr. dropped a gun.

Police said he was taken into custody without incident and the firearm was recovered.

Detectives later identified two additional individuals as potential suspects.

On Thursday, at around 8 a.m., officers assisted by SWAT executed search warrants at two nearby homes, where they arrested 75-year-old Venancio Camargo Sr. and recovered multiple guns and ammunition.

Police confirmed that Venancio Camargo Sr. and Venancio Camargo Jr. are father and son.

A third suspect, 21-year-old Daniel King-Camargo, contacted detectives during the operation and agreed to respond to the scene.

Police said shortly after arriving, he was taken into custody without incident.

All three were charged with felonious assault.
