Spectrum worker shot in the neck during robbery in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A Spectrum worker was shot in the neck during a street robbery while he was out on the job in Cincinnati early Thursday, police say.

It happened on North Fred Shuttlesworth Circle off Reading Road shortly after 5 a.m.

The Spectrum worker was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

“We can confirm one of our Spectrum employees was shot this morning. Our thoughts are with our colleague and their family at this time,” a Spectrum spokesman said in a statement to FOX19 NOW.

“We are saddened and concerned by the violent attack on one of our team members who was working to keep customers connected. We are working with the Cincinnati Police Department as they investigate this incident.”

Police say the Spectrum employee was out on a call in the neighborhood when a dark blue SUV pulled up next to him.

A man with a red bandana covering his face got out, demanded everything from the Spectrum worker and then robbed him at gunpoint, according to police.

The Spectrum worker told the gunman he could take everything, but the suspect still shot him, a sergeant said.

The suspect or suspects fled the scene in the SUV and remain at large.

Spectrum is offering a reward of up to $25,000 to the person(s) who provides credible information about any of the individual(s) involved in the shooting.
