Power outages, road closures after storms across NE Ohio: Here’s what to know

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the following counties:

• Tuscarawas County

POWER OUTAGES

As of 5:30 p.m., many FirstEnergy customers are without power.

• Cuyahoga County: 9,672
• Lake County: 1,621

ROAD CLOSURES

Authorities across Northeast Ohio have issued road closures due to travel conditions. Roads may be covered with debris from the storms. Drivers should adjust their speeds accordingly. Remember: If your windshield wipers are on, your headlights should be on. Leave home early in case of traffic issues.

Chardon

• South Hambden Street between the square and Huntington Street is closed while the power company works to make repairs.

Solon

• Solon Road will be closed in both directions between SOM Center Road and Bainbridge Road after a pole came down. Kruse Drive can be accessed from the Bainbridge Road side.
• Due to damage to the traffic light from the storm, the intersection of Kruse and Solon Road will be closed until tomorrow. Police will update when it reopens

Springfield Township

• Krumroy closed from Pressler to Myersville
• Swinehart/Myersville
• Killian/Snoderly
• Ambre Dr/Scenic Way

CLOSURES AND DELAYS

Akron Zoo was without power and delayed its opening to 11:30 a.m., but then closed for the remainder of the day due to a fallen tree.

According to the zoo, the tree fell on a perimeter fence, but the fence is not connected to any animal habitats and all animals are safe.

Zoo officials are evaluating the fence repairs and will decide if the park is able to reopen on Tuesday or will remain closed.

Anyone with tickets for Monday can call the zoo to reschedule tickets for another day if needed.
