Suspect in custody following fatal I-90 hit-and-run in Bratenahl
BRATENHAL, Ohio (WOIO) - Part of I-90 eastbound was closed due to a crash Sunday morning, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
According to the Batenahl Police Department, police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on I-90 near Eddy Road at 2:30 a.m.
A 43-year-old Garfield Heights man was struck by a vehicle and died from his injuries.
The department said in a press release that the suspect, a 44-year-old Cleveland man, is in custody, with charges pending and to be determined by the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office.
Bratenahl Police thanked a member of the public who provided the information that helped investigators identify the suspect and their vehicle.
ODOT spokesperson Matt Bruning said the full road closure alert was at 3:45 a.m., but the road has been reopened as of 8 a.m.
This remains an active investigation.
