‘Like a zombie’: Woman recalls moment she had a chunk of her forehead bitten off by stranger

SEATTLE (KOMO) — A woman said a stranger came up and attacked her in downtown Seattle this week and bit part of her face off.

Diana Gonzalez said she was attacked at random by a woman she doesn’t know.

“Unprovoked. I don’t know this person. I’ve never seen them before in my life,” Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez believes it was part of a bizarre, racist and homophobic attack.

Gonzalez said the woman bit off a one-inch piece of her forehead.

“I started crying ... I was just like, oh my God. Because it looks like a zombie bite like in a movie that you would see,” she said.

The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Camelia Chadli. She is charged with felony assault.

Gonzalez said Chadli was sitting on the steps of the Arctic Hotel eating a hamburger when she threw a piece of trash at her and started yelling multiple slurs.

“And almost instantly she’s like, ‘inferior race, you’re an inferior race,’” Gonzalez recalled.

Gonzalez said Chadli then spit on her and grabbed her.

“And almost instantly we go to the side of each other, and then that’s when she gets like bites my forehead. Like, I could feel her biting me,” she said.

A hotel employee then broke up the fight, and others helped Gonzalez with her bleeding.

Chadli then reportedly walked to a nearby bus stop at the courthouse where she was taken into custody.

“I did ask like, what did she do with my skin? And they said she spit it out and now it’s in a grate. It’s so weird. I can’t believe she bit a piece of my face off,” Gonzalez said.

Prosecutors said Gonzalez will have a permanent scar from the attack.

Gonzalez said she hopes Chadli serves a long sentence and gets the help that she needs so no one else goes through similar trauma.
