Mother found dead after 3-year-old child spotted wandering alone in neighborhood

WATERBURY, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) - Connecticut police are investigating after a mother was found dead and her young daughter was found wandering the neighborhood.

According to the Waterbury Police Department, officers responded this week to a neighborhood for a report of a 3-year-old girl seen walking alone.

Officers said they located the child, who showed no signs of abuse or neglect.

The police department said officers then conducted a follow-up investigation at the girl’s mother’s home, where they found her mom dead.

Police say the 33-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by EMTs. Investigators noted that they did not observe any obvious signs of foul play.

Waterbury police said the death remains under active investigation.
