Two men hospitalized after double shooting on Cleveland’s East Side
One victim critical after gunfire sends car into house near East 68th Street
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Cleveland police are investigating a double shooting near East 68th Street that left two young men hospitalized, one of them in critical condition.
Police were called to East 68th Street, where medic crews took a 21-year-old and a 23-year-old to the hospital. One is in stable condition. The other is in critical condition.
Investigators have not released many details about the shooting. Police said it is early in the investigation, and they do not know what led up to it.
Neighbors said the gunfire ended with a car crashing into their home.
“We were inside the house, and we heard about like 12 gunshots,” Tiffany Wright said. “We heard a big bang, it’s like from the back of the house, like, so we were all up here (front of house), but the back of the house, like towards the basement and the garage, it may like shift up, so it hit the garage and then into the house. So, we all came outside like, what’s going on? We all came out the front door. But then when we looked over, we seen that the gate was messed up. So, we were like, what? And we walked back there and then that’s when we seen the car right there and it was two guys in the car,”
Wright said the shooting was difficult to process for her family.
“I’m pretty sure like my mom, my little siblings, they probably don’t feel safe right now. So, it probably going to take a second for them to get back comfortable,” Wright said. “Glad we didn’t get hurt. That (the fence) should be fixable, replaceable.”
Police said they do not believe there is an active threat to the neighborhood. More details will be released as they become available.
