Multimedia Journalist

Olivia Yatooma

Olivia Yatooma joined Cleveland 19 News as a reporter in September 2026, bringing a passion for storytelling and a commitment to serving the community.

Olivia has loved storytelling for as long as she can remember. As a young teenager, she landed a role on Nickelodeon. She had the time of her life and knew then that she would pursue a career in television.

Born and raised in Metro Detroit alongside her three younger sisters, Olivia headed west for college and graduated from Biola University in Los Angeles with a degree in Journalism and Integrated Media. After college, she returned to Michigan to begin her broadcast career as a multimedia journalist and weekend anchor in Grand Rapids.

She later became a neighborhood reporter in Muskegon, Michigan, covering everything from city hall raids and unsolved murders to feature stories about families throughout the community. One of her most memorable investigative stories helped a large group of laid-off employees finally gain access to the much-needed 401(k) funds they had previously been denied.

Olivia’s passion for telling stories about people overcoming difficult circumstances started long before her career in journalism. She grew up volunteering with Yatooma’s Foundation for the Kids, a nonprofit her family founded in memory of her grandfather, who was killed in Detroit when Olivia’s father was just a kid himself. Today, the organization is dedicated to helping children who have lost a parent.

That experience shaped the kind of journalist Olivia hopes to be — someone who listens, advocates for her community, and gives a voice to people who might otherwise go unheard.

When she’s not reporting, Olivia enjoys spending time with her family, creative writing, singing, playing guitar and piano, and exploring her new home in Northeast Ohio. She is always looking for meaningful stories and people making a difference in the community.

If you have a story to share with Olivia, send her a message. She would love to hear from you!
