Sentencing for Cleveland mom guilty of starving her children

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A Cleveland mom guilty of causing the death of her two-year-old son and “severely” neglecting two other children, will be sentenced Wednesday.

In August, Niesha Walls pleaded guilty to one count of endangering children, one count of involuntary manslaughter, and one count of felonious assault.

According to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley, officers responded to the family’s Cleveland home near Anita Kennedy Avenue and Kinsman Road on Aug. 6, 2024 for a welfare check.

When they arrived, officers noticed the house was in “deplorable” conditions and Noell Walls was unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

O’Malley added the little boy also had an untreated medical condition.

The other two children, who were then nine and 11, appeared to be severely malnourished and were transported to a nearby hospital, said O’Malley.
