Akron: Separate weekend homicides under investigation

AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Akron Detectives are investigating two separate homicides that occurred over the weekend.

The first occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday night in the 600 block of Chittenden Street. The victim, 51-year-old Richard Martin, was found inside of the house with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Another victim, a 56-year-old man, was found inside the house with a gunshot wound to his left arm. He was transported to Akron City Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

According to witnesses, the suspect is a black man wearing all black clothing and was driving a white Pontiac Grand Am.

The second homicide occurred shortly after 7 p.m. last night in the 1000 block of Peckham Street. The victim, a 33-year-old man, was found in the driveway with a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

No suspect information is available at this time.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct autopsies on the victims.
