Cleveland Metroparks Zoo mourns loss of black rhino

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on Sunday announced the passing of a nearly 31-year-old black rhinoceros.

Metroparks officials say their rhino, Inge, passed away after a progressive decline in her overall health.

Inge came to the zoo in 1997, Metroparks officials said. She was among the top five oldest females in global population.

“She was an incredible ambassador for her counterparts in the wild and helped educate guests about conservation issues facing the species and will be tremendously missed,” Metroparks officials said.
