Court hearing for man accused of killing Glenville High School student-athlete

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The 22-year-old man accused of killing a Glenville High School student-athlete pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Thursday.

Meonte Robinson was indicted on the charges of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, having weapons while under disability, and tampering with evidence.

The judge ordered Robinson held on a $1 million bond. He is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 15.

According to Euclid police, Robinson fatally shot Te’Vion Cunningham, 17, on Jan. 5 in the area of Seabrooke Avenue and East 222nd Street.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley said Cunningham was trying to buy a gun from Robinson.

“This case is a perfect example of the carnage that guns are causing in our community”, said O’Malley. “We are seeing teenagers with increased access to guns, and unfortunately, in this case, a high school student went to purchase one and lost his life.”

Robinson was arrested on Jan. 15.

Cunningham played both football and basketball at Glenville High School.
