North Olmsted police arrest 1 after shots fired at gas station

NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio (WOIO) - A heavy police presence in North Olmsted Wednesday night closed off a portion of Porter Road due to an investigation at a gas station.

North Olmsted police say officers were dispatched to the Speedway gas station at Lorain Road and Brookpark Road around 5:52 p.m. for an altercation between two men threatening to shoot each other.

Shortly after, police officials say an officer reported hearing yelling and two gunshots on Lorain Road near the North Olmsted Police Department.

Officers later located a pickup truck with bullet holes in the windshield and door at the Marathon gas station on Lorain Road.

Police say the driver, who was uninjured, said two white vehicles involved in the altercation fled northbound on Porter Road.

The other involved vehicle was found at a residence on Porter Road, where 22-year-old Elijah Otero was arrested.

Officers recovered the handgun involved in the shooting.

Otero is being held in the North Olmsted jail waiting to be arraigned on a felonious assault charge.

Police say the shooting stemmed from a road rage incident between the victim and Otero’s brother.
