You must have a REAL ID by May 7 to fly in the U.S.
CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - All travelers must either have a REAL ID, military id or current passport by May 7, if you want to board a domestic flight or enter a military base.

“The deadline is less than six months away and will be here before we know it,” says Theresa Podguski, director of legislative affairs for AAA East Central. “Anyone interested in applying for the compliant identification should get their documents in order now to avoid waiting in long lines later this year with other last-minute applicants.”

You can apply for your REAL ID at any Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) and there is no additional cost.
The only costs will be the regular renewal or first-time license fees.
Make sure to bring the necessary documents.
According to the BMV, ID cards will be mailed in about 10 business days after ordering them.
