‘It was not her time’: Cleveland family mourns murdered woman police say was killed by boyfriend

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - “I know sometimes love is tough. But when they show you who they are, don’t go back.”

Nicole Geiger said love cost her baby sister her life.

“It’s hard because now we have to bury our sister. He took her away from her kids, her grandkids, sisters, brothers. It was not her time” said Geiger.

Briekethia Pruitt was found dead inside a car Sunday morning.

She was found inside a car on Judson Drive and East 147th Street.

The 39-year-old woman was shot.

Police said her boyfriend, Corey Sanders, is responsible.

Geiger admits the couple had a history of domestic violence.

“I’ve actually seen him pull a gun out on my sister,” said Geiger.

19 Investigates did some digging into Sanders' past and found a lengthy criminal record.

Sanders just got out of prison in 2023.

He served four years for strangling, beating and firing a gun at Pruitt’s head.

Sanders also brutally attacked his handicapped mother in 2008.

He served two years for that.

Sanders is sitting inside the Cuyahoga County Jail. He was given a $2 million bond.

But for Geiger, that’s not enough.

“That don’t even bring justice to me,” said Geiger.
