Summit County suspect arrested after allegedly cutting off 3 kittens’ tails

GREEN, Ohio (WOIO) - The Summit County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) arrested a man after he allegedly threw a container of cut off kitten tails at a victim in Green.

According to a release from the SCSO, deputies were called to East Turkeyfoot Lake Road on Friday for a dispute involving suspect Bret Stalnaker, 57.

The sheriff’s office said earlier that day, Stalnaker got into a an argument with a female resident.

After the argument, Stalnaker sent the victim texts allegedly saying he was going to harm kittens, who were born nine days earlier.

Specifically, Stalnaker said he was going to cut off the tails of the newborn kittens and their mother, according to the release.

Later in the day, Stalnaker returned to the victim and threw a container at her. The container held the tails of three kittens, the release said.

When deputies arrived, Stalnaker was in his van. Stalnaker complied with the deputies’ commands and got out of his van. He also threw his .45 caliber pistol to the deputies, according to the release.

The SCSO arrested Stalnaker and he was charged with one count of felonious animal cruelty and taken to the Summit County Jail.

The SCSO took the kittens to a local vet where they are recovering.
